Leaping Over Fireflies

I think writing helps keep me sane...even when I don't do it enough, I'm always composing blogs in my head. "That's what I was GOING to type" is the mantra I may repeat to myself on the couch. This blog will be used as a way to explain how I navigate the waters of my life :) I chose the blog title of "Leaping Over Fireflies" because first I feel like many times even though people believe me to be cautious, I have taken many big leaps in my life. I fell in love, I moved to the 3rd largest city in the U.S., and I am an educator in a neighborhood that many steer clear of. I also thought of fireflies first because I just read the novel Firefly Lane and it was like Beaches (so hey, I love that movie too) and it reminded me of the relationship I hope to have with my twin through the decades, music, and so much more through life. I also think fireflies are a metaphor for the signposts we see in the darkness when we're ready to make big leaps...here's hoping I see many more of them!
